Our beloved nanny and great friend, Jenna, and her husband recently spent some time working in Haiti. We missed them so much while they were there and are so grateful to have them back here in the states again. They came to Athens and spent the night with us last night. This morning they gave the children these fun Haitian flags and lollipops…they all wanted to take them to school for their “share days”. She brought me back a present too. These three beautiful handmade metal birds. One to represent each of my children. She told me all about walking down the dirt road and hearing clanking metal as all the little shop owners were making their creations. I love that she chose three birds for me and that they “look” just like my children to me. The large one with outstretched wings is Savannah. Jackson is the bird with the smaller head and Scarlett is the smallest one. Now to decide where to put them in my home.
They are so delicate and beautiful. I love them. I love that she picked them especially for me. I love that they are handmade art and from Haiti. What a special gift.
